Redfern Community Facility

Gadi Country

This project transforms a 1880s Victorian Italianate building into a dedicated place and presence for Aboriginal community members in Redfern. Through the addition of a new entry, re-claimed laneway and reconfigured circulation, the building is made accessible, inclusive and inviting. Balancing cultural and built history, our response is contextual, sustainable and efficient, creating a safe, more welcoming place for all and a celebratory entry experience that pays greater respect to the Country that was, is and continues to be.
